FOR THE SAFETY OF YOUR PET

A lost pet is a heartbreak for a family.  After walking through the neighborhood, calling your pet's name over and over, panic begins to set in.  And if your pet is taken to a shelter, how can you be sure you will ever find him.  Over the last several years, microchips implanted in pets have been instrumental in reuniting lost pets and their families.  Without this service, hundreds of pets would still be without their families.  ALL of the shelters in our area have scanners available and use them on all pets brought to them.  Several pets found in our area have been brought to us, scanned and reunited with their families.  Without the microchip, they could have been lost for days, or never reunited.  This simple procedure can save you and your pet hours of separation.  Call us for details and an appointment.  Is your pet wearing an ID tag or rabies tag?  We have order forms for ID tags.

Also, update your pet's rabies vaccination today and get a new tag for valuable identification for your pet.   Rabies is still a dangerous problem in our area, both for pets and your family.

FOR THE LIFE OF YOUR PET

Winter is here, brrrrrr!!!.   With cold and icy weather just around the corner, here are some suggestions for keeping your pets healthy and safe.

-     ANTIFREEZE IS A KILLER! Keep it out of reach of your pets. Clean up any spills. Even just a taste can be fatal to your pet. If you think your pet has ingested antifreeze, call us immediately. Minutes can make a difference.

-     Protect your pet from the elements. Provide shelter from the cold, snow and wind. Pets can get frostbite too.

-     Cats like to get under the hood of your car and onto the engine for warmth. Bang on the hood before starting your car to prevent injury to your cat.

-     Don’t let your pets wander unattended. They can get lost or injured and then die of exposure.

-     Make sure your pets have plenty of food and fresh water.

Product Info

Ticks never go away.  .  . at least it seems that way.  Lyme ticks are with us year round.  We don't see them as much if there is very cold weather, or a covering of snow, but if there is a thaw, they're out and hungry.  Help protect your pets from Lyme disease with one of the products available at the Billings Animal Hospital.  We have collars and topical applications to help prevent ticks from infecting your pet.  And don't forget the Lyme Vaccine for dogs.  Ask our staff for guidance in choosing a product that's right for your pet.

Is your older dog having trouble getting around lately? Does he seem sore first thing in the morning or after exercise? Advances have been made in medications for these problems.  Some of our clients already have their dogs on one or more of the medications and are reporting great improvement in the quality of their pets` lives.  Call us for details.

Heartworm prevention……we recommend year-round prevention.  There is now a generic form of HeartgardPlus.  Same ingredients…but costs less....or you can still get Heartgard Plus in a tasty cookie form.  Call us for further information.
